Software Engineer - Data Scientist

About the role

Orange Business is seeking a Data Scientist with a software engineering mindset to bridge rapid experimentation and production‑grade AI delivery. You will work in a collaborative, global environment to create proof‑of‑concepts and scalable AI solutions that drive business value.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and validate AI/analytics prototypes (PoCs) to demonstrate value.
• Build robust, production‑ready AI models and data‑driven services.
• Create AI‑driven automation use cases to optimise workflows.
• Develop predictive models for classification, forecasting and decision support.
• Contribute to Generative AI (GenAI) initiatives such as assistants, text generation and document intelligence.
• Collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions.
• Monitor model and data quality, validate results and improve reliability over time.
• Communicate insights and model behaviour clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required profile

• Strong statistical analysis and experimentation skills (hypothesis testing, A/B testing, causal thinking).
• Agile mindset with ability to move between fast prototyping and scalable delivery.
• Experience working with cross‑functional engineering and business teams.

Required skills

• Python and/or R for data science.
• SQL (must‑have) and experience with large datasets.
• Data wrangling, reproducible code and modeling workflows.
• Scalable data concepts (e.g., Spark) where applicable.
• Machine Learning (supervised/unsupervised), feature engineering and evaluation metrics.
• Deep Learning fundamentals (optional but valued).
• Generative AI & LLM concepts: prompting, embeddings, retrieval‑augmented generation, safe usage.
• LLM development tooling (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex or equivalents).
• Data pipelines, ETL/ELT orchestration and reliable data preparation.
• Dimensional data modeling.
