Automotive Test and Validation Engineer (Embedded Systems)

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Test and Validation Engineer to lead Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) testing for embedded automotive systems. You will ensure the performance, reliability, and compliance of electronic control units (ECUs) through rigorous validation on HIL benches.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop test cases to validate automotive ECUs and subsystems on HIL platforms.
• Execute validation campaigns to ensure compliance with system requirements and specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with HIL benches, ensuring smooth testing operations.
• Regularly update simulation models and test scenarios to reflect evolving system requirements.
• Develop automated test scripts using Python, CAPL, or MATLAB.
• Integrate test cases into CI/CD pipelines for efficient testing workflows.
• Analyze test results to identify software or hardware performance issues.
• Provide detailed test reports covering test coverage, defect trends, and validation status.
• Validate communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Ethernet.
• Ensure all testing activities comply with ISO 26262, ASPICE, and OEM guidelines.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (BAC+5) in embedded systems engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3‑5 years of experience in HIL testing for automotive ECUs.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Ability to analyze system behavior and diagnose root causes of defects.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with HIL tools (dSPACE, Vector CANoe, NI VeriStand, ETAS).
• Proficiency with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, UDS, FlexRay, Ethernet).
• Test scripting in Python, CAPL, MATLAB/Simulink.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical/electronic components (sensors, actuators, ECUs).
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262 and ASPICE standards.
