Director of Engineering – Property Maintenance

About the role

The Director of Engineering leads all engineering and maintenance activities for a hospitality property, ensuring safety, security and asset protection. This senior management position oversees the building, grounds and physical plant while driving cost‑effective operations and energy conservation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the engineering budget, capital projects and preventative maintenance programs.
• Oversee all building systems including HVAC‑R, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment and electrical installations.
• Administer service contracts and ensure fire‑crew readiness on all procedures and equipment.
• Control utility consumption (heat, light, power) and implement energy‑saving strategies.
• Develop and execute long‑term asset protection and 10‑year maintenance plans.
• Supervise construction projects to ensure timely, on‑budget completion.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and maintain life‑safety systems.
• Lead the emergency response team for facility‑related incidents.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 6 years of engineering/maintenance experience, **or** a 2‑year degree in Building & Construction, Engineering or Mechanics with 4 years of experience.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical and plumbing systems.
