GNC Engineer – UAV Systems

About the role

As a GNC Engineer on the UAV team at Harmattan AI, you will create and implement advanced guidance, navigation and control solutions for autonomous defense aircraft. You will take concepts from simulation through embedded deployment to live flight testing, ensuring robust performance in demanding environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop state-of-the-art navigation and sensor-fusion algorithms for UAVs.
• Implement GNC and flight-control systems, including filtering and estimation strategies.
• Run extensive simulations (Monte Carlo, SITL, HITL) and perform coverage testing.
• Analyze flight test data to refine algorithms and improve performance.
• Integrate full-stack systems such as GNSS, INS/IMU, localisation and sensor fusion.
• Maintain and evolve flight-computer software across multiple UAV platforms.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (BSc or MSc) in computer science, engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in aerospace GNC systems.
• Strong foundation in control theory, estimation and sensor integration.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and embedded C/C++.
• Experience with simulation tools such as Gazebo.
• Version control using Git.
• Familiarity with open-source autopilots (PX4, Ardupilot, Betaflight).
• Hands-on electronics skills: debugging, soldering and wiring harnesses.
