Senior Investment Analyst, Project Development Fund

About the role

As a Senior Investment Analyst within Africa50's Project Development Fund, you will support the Transport and ICT vertical by delivering high‑quality financial analysis, modelling and transaction support. You will work closely with governments, sponsors, lenders and technical partners to move infrastructure projects from concept to investment‑ready status.

Key responsibilities

• Build, own and maintain complex project‑finance models, including sensitivity, cash‑flow and scenario analyses.
• Analyse project assumptions, capital structures, financing needs, returns and risks, and formulate investment recommendations.
• Screen new opportunities against Africa50’s mandate and risk‑return criteria.
• Conduct sector, country, market and sponsor research to identify viable projects.
• Review transaction documents, assess commercial, financial and contractual risks, and raise material issues.
• Coordinate due‑diligence across financial, technical, legal and ESG workstreams, managing adviser deliverables.
• Support negotiations with public authorities, sponsors, lenders, DFIs and other stakeholders.
• Prepare internal and external project documentation such as investment memoranda and board notes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project finance, infrastructure investment or related advisory roles.
• Ability to work independently on complex analyses and transaction workstreams.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and risk assessment.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interaction and documentation.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French or Arabic is a plus.
