Senior Investment Associate, Project Development Fund

About the role

Senior Investment Associate will lead the assessment, structuring and execution of transport and ICT infrastructure investments across Africa for Africa50’s Project Development Fund. The role offers substantial autonomy in managing transaction workstreams and driving projects toward investment approval and financial close.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the structuring of project‑development and equity investments and support negotiations with sponsors, lenders and public authorities.
• Oversee financial, commercial, technical, legal and ESG due‑diligence workstreams.
• Prepare decision‑making materials and coordinate Africa50’s contribution to portfolio project development.
• Build and maintain relationships with infrastructure companies, institutional partners, lenders, investors and government stakeholders.
• Monitor portfolio companies and mentor junior investment professionals.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience in transport or ICT infrastructure development, project finance, PPP/concession advisory, private equity, a DFI or investment banking.
• Advanced project‑finance modelling and valuation expertise with a track record of infrastructure transactions.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, law or a related field; postgraduate study is a plus.
• Fluent English; French is an advantage. Experience in African or other emerging markets is strongly preferred.
