Enakl, a fast‑growing mobility startup, is building a digital infrastructure that powers shared commuting across African cities. With over 30,000 monthly bookings, the platform is a complex, multi‑tenant SaaS that requires robust, scalable backend services. We are looking for an intermediate Backend Engineer to join our lean, senior team and contribute to the core NestJS platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement new API endpoints and business logic across NestJS modules such as booking, payment, user, and analytics.
• Optimize PostgreSQL queries and overall database performance using TypeORM, including indexing, query tuning, and migration strategies.
• Improve API latency, caching, and response efficiency, ensuring high availability and resilience.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents, enhancing monitoring, logging, and error‑handling patterns.
• Collaborate closely with frontend teams (Next.js, Flutter) and DevOps to maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments.

Required Skills:

• 3+ years of backend development with Node.js/TypeScript.
• Strong experience with NestJS or Express.js and a willingness to deepen NestJS expertise.
• Proficiency in SQL and ORM (TypeORM preferred) with PostgreSQL.
• REST API design, testing with Jest, and Git workflow best practices.
• Familiarity with AWS services (RDS, EC2, Lambda) and Docker.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with multi‑tenant architecture and tenant isolation patterns.
• Background in event‑driven architecture and background job processing.
• Knowledge of database query tuning and performance optimization.
• Containerization and CI/CD pipeline experience.
