GIZ, a leading German development agency, operates in Morocco as part of its Global Cooperation for International Development program. The agency focuses on fostering sustainable development, promoting renewable energy, and supporting climate‑friendly initiatives worldwide. In line with its mission, GIZ is launching a new project under the Global Cooperation for International Development (GCID) framework, targeting the Moroccan market to enhance energy efficiency and promote climate‑friendly solutions across commerce and industry sectors.

The position of Technical Advisor for Climate‑Friendly Energy Solutions for Commerce and Industries Companies is a pivotal role within this project. The advisor will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing energy projects that align with Morocco’s national energy strategy and the Paris Agreement commitments. The role requires a deep understanding of energy sector policies, industrial energy efficiency, renewable technologies, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Conducting comprehensive energy audits for commercial and industrial clients to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.

    • Developing tailored energy solutions that incorporate renewable technologies such as photovoltaic (PV) systems, green hydrogen production, and biomass utilization.

    • Engaging with stakeholders across multiple sectors, including government agencies, private enterprises, and local communities, to foster collaboration and secure project buy‑in.

    • Managing project lifecycles from concept through implementation, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

    • Providing technical guidance on industrial energy efficiency measures, process heat optimization, and the integration of renewable energy sources into existing infrastructure.

    • Facilitating knowledge transfer and capacity building among client organizations, enabling them to sustain energy improvements post‑project.

    • Monitoring and evaluating project outcomes, preparing detailed reports, and recommending adjustments to maximize impact and cost‑effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree or higher in energy engineering, environmental science, or a related field, coupled with at least five years of experience in project development, business development, or sales within the energy sector. Proficiency in French and English is essential, as the role involves communication with local stakeholders and international partners.

    Additional qualifications include:

    • In‑depth knowledge of energy sector policies and regulatory frameworks in Morocco and the broader North African region.

    • Proven track record in industrial energy efficiency projects, including the design and deployment of process heat solutions and renewable energy technologies.

    • Experience conducting energy audits and developing data‑driven performance metrics.

    • Strong networking and communication skills, with the ability to navigate multicultural environments and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.

    • Familiarity with information and communication technologies (ICT) and data analysis tools to support project monitoring and reporting.

The working environment is primarily on‑site in Rabat, with occasional travel to client sites across Morocco. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to climate‑friendly energy transitions, support local businesses, and collaborate with international partners to achieve sustainable development goals.

Applicants are invited to submit their CV and a cover letter outlining their relevant experience and motivation for the role. The application deadline is January 7, 2026. Successful candidates will be selected based on their technical expertise, project management capabilities, and alignment with GIZ’s mission to promote sustainable development and climate resilience.
