Director of Finance & Risk

About the role

PIE is seeking a senior leader to provide strategic oversight of finance, legal, compliance, governance and enterprise risk as the organisation transitions to an independent entity. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Director of Finance & Risk will work closely with heads of Finance, Legal & Risk, and Grantmaking Operations to ensure responsible management of financial resources and organisational risk.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the leadership team on financial sustainability, organisational performance and resource stewardship.
• Shape long‑term financial strategy and embed financial considerations into strategic decisions.
• Lead discussions on resource allocation, investment choices, growth scenarios and strategic trade‑offs.
• Oversee governance, legal compliance and enterprise risk management across multiple jurisdictions.
• Provide clear, actionable financial and risk insights to support decision‑making.
• Manage a team of 4‑6 finance and legal professionals.

Required profile

• Proven senior experience in finance, risk management or related fields within a multi‑jurisdictional or non‑profit environment.
• Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate financial data into organisational insight.
• Experience leading cross‑functional teams and influencing senior leadership.
