Director, Specialist Sales – SME (Africa)

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a dynamic Director to lead SME Business Development across North Africa. The role focuses on driving sales strategy, delivering innovative payment solutions to fintechs and large issuing banks, and expanding Mastercard’s footprint in the SME segment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with Mastercard’s North Africa objectives.
• Lead, coach, and manage a high‑performing team of 4+ sales professionals.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify market opportunities and drive revenue growth.
• Establish and maintain executive‑level relationships with key clients and partners.
• Represent Mastercard at industry events and speak on payment trends.
• Understand fintech and issuing bank needs for SME customers and create differentiated value propositions.
• Oversee strategic account plans and ensure alignment with client SME priorities.
• Drive adoption of Mastercard’s innovative payment solutions for SME customers.
• Develop compelling business cases showcasing solution value.
• Maintain deep knowledge of the African payments landscape and provide market intelligence.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in sales or business development within the payments or financial services sector.
• Strong track record of building and executing regional sales strategies.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with senior executives and partners.
• Ability to translate complex client needs into actionable solutions.
• Experience managing and developing high‑performing sales teams.
• Deep understanding of the North African market and SME segment.
