Food Chain Lead Northwest Africa

About the role

The Food Chain Lead for Northwest Africa will champion Syngenta’s sustainability agenda across the region, influencing policy, building stakeholder coalitions, and ensuring the company’s products meet regulatory and food‑chain requirements. This senior position reports to the Business Area leadership and works closely with internal and external partners to protect and enhance Syngenta’s freedom to operate.

Key responsibilities

• Present Syngenta’s position to key political and economic stakeholders and monitor developments that could impact the business.
• Advise Business Area leadership on policy changes and develop a 5‑year impact decision‑making tool for regulatory decisions.
• Collaborate with CropLife NWA and industry associations to align on mutual interests and policy initiatives.
• Map and segment stakeholders across key markets, create a decision‑making database, and develop strategic engagement plans.
• Lead raw‑material package development, food‑chain trials, audits, and official registration trials.
• Support local residue management, NPIs, and sustainability projects to enhance Syngenta’s reputation and freedom to operate.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience across marketing, regulatory, food‑chain, and agronomy functions.
• University degree in Agronomy, Crop Protection, Plant Science or equivalent business education/experience.
• Proven ability to manage complex, cross‑functional projects and lead senior teams.
• High emotional intelligence, strong decision‑making and influencing skills, and a collaborative “roll‑up‑the‑sleeves” attitude.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks in AME/EU.
• Expertise in agronomy, IPM, soil health, and food‑chain sustainability.
• Experience with industry associations such as CropLife and stakeholder partnership development.
• Understanding of Syngenta’s crop protection portfolio, safety profiles, and risk management.
