Senior Trade & Investment Expert (EU‑Egypt Project)

About the role

The European Union and Egypt are seeking a senior specialist to provide rapid, high‑quality technical assistance for the EU‑funded "Egypt Downtown Facility" project. The role focuses on trade and investment policy, private‑sector development and strengthening EU‑Egypt economic cooperation.

Key responsibilities

• Support technical assistance assignments covering trade policy, investment climate, market access and economic competitiveness.
• Prepare market studies, investment analyses, feasibility studies and policy recommendations for Egyptian partner entities.
• Deliver training and capacity‑building sessions to enhance institutional capacities.
• Contribute to policy dialogue, programme implementation and the overall visibility of the EU‑Egypt strategic partnership.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in economics, international trade, business, finance, development studies or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in trade, investment, private‑sector development or business‑environment reform.
• Proven experience preparing market studies, investment analyses and policy recommendations.
• Good knowledge of trade and investment policy instruments and private‑sector development mechanisms.
• Experience in Egypt or the MENA region is desirable.
• Fluent English (C1); Arabic is desirable and French is an asset.
