General Counsel – Pharmaceutical Operations

About the role

The General Counsel will lead the legal function for a global investor’s pharmaceutical operations in Morocco, ensuring compliance with local laws, international standards, and internal policies. This senior position is pivotal for managing legal risk, supporting strategic initiatives, and upholding best‑in‑class governance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement legal standards and frameworks specific to pharmaceutical activities.
• Oversee contract negotiations, supply agreements, distribution deals, and licensing arrangements.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with Moroccan pharmaceutical laws (Law 17‑04, Law 17‑97) and recent decrees (2.24.327, 2.24.346).
• Manage intellectual property protection and enforcement.
• Lead dispute resolution and litigation management, coordinating with external counsel.
• Serve as Board Secretary, maintaining governance documentation and compliance with Moroccan Companies Law.
• Conduct compliance audits, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
• Liaise with Moroccan authorities such as the Ministry of Health, ANPM, and the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in Moroccan pharmaceutical law.
• Proven track record leading a legal function in a complex, regulated environment.
• Experience acting as Board Secretary and managing corporate governance.
• Strong background in contract negotiation, IP management, and litigation oversight.
• Ability to interact effectively with regulatory bodies and senior business leaders.
