GNC Engineer

About the role

As a Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer on the UAV team at Harmattan AI, you will design and implement cutting‑edge algorithms that enable autonomous flight for defense‑grade unmanned aircraft. You will work from simulation through embedded code to live flight tests, ensuring robust performance in demanding operational environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop state‑of‑the‑art navigation and sensor‑fusion algorithms for UAVs.
• Design and implement GNC and flight‑control systems.
• Build filtering and estimation strategies for robust and efficient flight performance.
• Run extensive simulations (Monte Carlo, SITL, HITL) and coverage testing.
• Analyze test‑flight data and refine algorithmic performance.
• Support full‑stack system integration: GNSS, INS/IMU, localisation, and fusion.
• Maintain and evolve a flight‑proven flight computer across multiple UAV platforms.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (BSc/MSc) in computer science, engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in aerospace GNC systems.
• Strong foundation in control theory, estimation and sensor integration.
• Proficiency in Python and embedded C/C++.
• Experience with simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo) and Git version control.
• Familiarity with open‑source autopilot frameworks such as PX4, Ardupilot or Betaflight.
• Hands‑on electronics skills including debugging, soldering and harnessing.
• Bonus: FPV pilot hobbyist.
