Jigs and Tools Engineer

About the role

Alstom is looking for a Jigs and Tools Engineer to design and develop advanced tooling solutions that ensure precision, safety and efficiency in rail manufacturing. The engineer works with dedicated teams committed to engineering excellence and sustainable mobility.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise jigs, fixtures and tooling systems to improve scalability and production efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams so tooling design matches manufacturing and quality requirements.
• Ensure tool reliability and compliance through rigorous validation and continuous improvement.
• Integrate digital design tools such as CATIA and 3D simulation into tooling development.
• Promote knowledge sharing and standardisation of best practices across engineering and production teams.

Required profile

• Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA or SolidWorks for tooling design.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, welding and assembly.
• Experience with FMEA or DFMA methodologies to ensure tool reliability and maintainability.
• Ability to read technical drawings and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to work across engineering and production functions.
