Legal Counsel (Program Delivery)

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its international programme delivery. The role sits within the global Legal team and provides strategic legal advice to Save the Children’s Global Teams and 54 Country Offices, ensuring compliance and managing risk across a wide range of operations.

Key responsibilities

• Advise Country Offices across five regions on corporate and contractual matters, including procurement, programming, awards and finance.
• Provide legal guidance to Global Teams on issues of global scope such as policy changes, transformation delivery, HR, partnerships, treasury and fundraising.
• Support governance requirements for a large international organisation.
• Assist senior legal staff in managing contractual and legal risk projects and relationships with Global Teams.
• Contribute to internal legal team initiatives, such as training programmes.
• Be available to work outside normal hours during major humanitarian emergencies or organisational crises.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in international non‑profit or development contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to advise on cross‑border programme delivery and contractual matters.
• Strong understanding of governance, procurement and finance regulations.
• Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.
• Right to work in the country of assignment for the duration of employment.
