Medical Science Liaison – Rare Disease

About the role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Rare Disease will act as the scientific bridge between our organization and key external stakeholders. The role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with clinical and scientific leaders, delivering balanced scientific information, and supporting medical initiatives across the territory.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an engagement plan for Key Opinion Leaders (KEEs), allocating ~70% of time to field activities and 30% to office coordination.
• Identify and collaborate with HCPs possessing high scientific expertise to support medico‑marketing activities and advisory boards.
• Prepare and conduct 1:1 scientific discussions, presenting data on approved and investigational products in an objective, balanced manner.
• Respond to unsolicited requests for information on unapproved products or off‑label uses, ensuring scientific rigor.
• Maintain a database of KEEs, segment them by interest, and recommend participants for advisory boards and speaker programs.
• Provide scientific updates, support CME events, and foster partnerships with patient advocacy groups and medical societies.
• Assist with local research projects, clinical trial engagement, and the identification of potential speakers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in medical affairs, scientific liaison, or a related pharmaceutical role.
• Strong knowledge of rare disease therapeutic areas and the ability to discuss complex scientific data.
• Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 60% field time) and work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with HCPs, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
