North West Africa Legal & Compliance Head

About the role

The Senior Lawyer will support Bureau Veritas' North West Africa operations, assisting the Legal Manager with contracts, compliance and legal risk management. The role develops expertise in regional regulatory environments while providing guidance to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support and contract management for product lines across the region, including drafting, reviewing and analysing agreements.
• Assist with corporate legal matters, M&A, joint‑venture transactions and litigation coordination with external counsel.
• Support compliance activities, investigations into fraud, bribery and policy breaches, and deliver training on compliance matters.
• Coordinate insurance and debt‑collection issues in partnership with the Group Risk and Insurance Department.

Required profile

• Law degree with admission to practice in a North West Africa jurisdiction.
• 5‑10 years of engineering and construction legal experience, preferably in the region.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Strong contract drafting and review skills, especially with FIDIC contracts.

Required skills

• Expertise in corporate and commercial law for North and West African countries.
• In‑depth knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements, including privacy, trade sanctions and export control.
• Ability to support investigations and provide training on ethics and compliance.
