Polymer Trader – North & West Africa

About the role

The Polymer Trader will lead commercial expansion across North and West Africa, managing the full physical trading cycle for polymers such as PE, PP, PVC and PS. Based in Casablanca, you will act as the primary commercial interface with converters, distributors and industrial buyers throughout the region.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the procurement centre to source polymers from global suppliers and develop a portfolio of converters, importers and distributors.
• Negotiate pricing formulas, Incoterms and payment terms (LC, CAD, OA) and execute back‑to‑back or triangular trades to major African ports.
• Monitor open positions, manage price exposure and support hedging strategies.
• Track regional demand, supply gaps, competitor activity and international indices (ICIS, Platts, ChemOrbis) to identify new market‑entry opportunities.
• Conduct regular in‑country visits and represent the company at trade fairs and industry events.
• Assess counter‑party creditworthiness, manage LCs, bank guarantees and documentary collections within approved limits.
• Report trading positions, margins and receivables to senior management.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of experience in physical commodity trading, preferably polymers or petrochemicals.
• Proven P&L contribution and independent deal execution.
• Strong understanding of polymer grades and end‑use applications.
• Experience with international traders active in African markets.
• Familiarity with trade finance instruments and credit risk management.

Required skills

• Knowledge of polymer grades: PE, PP, PVC, PS.
• Trade finance expertise: letters of credit (LC), cash against documents (CAD), documentary collections.
• Incoterms and shipping documentation.
• Freight structure management.
• Use of market data platforms (ICIS, Platts, ChemOrbis).
