Postdoc in Optical and Laser Diagnostics for Plasma Propagation and Plasma-Surface Interactions

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), through its Applied Chemistry and Engineering Research Center of Excellence (ACER-CoE), is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to carry out experimental research on plasma propagation in open atmosphere and plasma-surface interactions using advanced optical and laser diagnostic techniques. The project focuses on non-thermal plasmas and their interaction with material surfaces, within the research areas of Plasma Physics, Chemical Engineering and Energy & Sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Study plasma propagation and discharge dynamics in non-thermal plasma systems.
• Apply optical and laser diagnostic techniques to characterize plasma species and parameters.
• Investigate plasma-surface interaction mechanisms and surface modification processes.
• Analyze experimental data and contribute to scientific publications.

Required profile

• PhD in Plasma Science, Chemical Engineering or related fields.
• Experience in plasma experiments, spectroscopy or laser diagnostics is an advantage.
• Familiarity with material characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM, FTIR and ICP-OES.
• Good English communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) and laser-based diagnostics.
• Programming and user skills in Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW or comparable technical computing and simulation environments.
