Postdoctoral Fellowship, Crystallographer (ACER CoE)

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, located in Benguerir, Morocco, offers a postdoctoral fellowship as Crystallographer within the ACER Centre of Excellence. ACER was recently created to address process challenges in chemistry and engineering through interdisciplinary research, with faculty from chemistry, chemical engineering and environmental engineering working on catalysis, separation, energy generation and storage, and advanced polymers and materials.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake original research of international excellence.
• Prepare papers for publication in leading journals and contribute to dissemination at national and international conferences, workshops and meetings.
• Report the development, progress and results of research to the project team.
• Build collaborative links with core scientific staff in related areas to deepen knowledge of experimental and research approaches.
• Identify improvements in the research structure using integrated management approaches to strengthen capacity and scientific rigor.
• Support the development of research funding proposals when needed.
• Develop undergraduate courses, Master courses and modules.
• Support equipment purchasing and dealings with international suppliers.
• Assist in supervising PhD students and guide their research work.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry or Crystallography.
• Knowledge of crystallization techniques.
• Experience solving crystal structures with single-crystal X-ray diffraction data; powder X-ray or electronic diffraction experience is a plus.
• Good publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent oral and written English and ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary, multicultural team.
• Experience in co-supervising and coordinating Master students.

Required skills

• Solving crystal structures using single-crystal X-ray diffraction data.
• Advanced structural characterization methods.
