About the role
The International Water Research Institute (IWRI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to develop hybrid machine‑learning and physics‑based models for hydroclimatic extremes in data‑scarce regions, focusing on Morocco.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement innovative hybrid modeling approaches that combine data‑driven algorithms with physically based hydrological and climate models.
- Improve prediction of droughts and floods under limited observational data.
- Translate model outputs into actionable information for water resource managers and planning authorities.
- Evaluate long‑term water management strategies to mitigate water scarcity.
- Assess the transferability of the developed methods to other regions with similar data constraints.
Required profile
- PhD in hydrology, climate science, environmental engineering, data science, or a related field.
- Strong research background in hydroclimatic extremes and experience working with limited datasets.
- Ability to communicate scientific results to interdisciplinary stakeholders.
