Postdoctoral Researcher in Membrane and Electrode Technologies

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) offers a postdoctoral position within the ACER Centre of Excellence, which brings together researchers in chemistry, chemical engineering and environmental engineering. The position focuses on membrane and electrode technologies for battery and fuel-cell systems, aiming to advance research and development of high-performance membranes for applications such as catalytic materials and electrodes for fuel cells and polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out original scientific research on membranes, polymers for batteries and fuel cells.
• Characterize the developed membranes using physicochemical, structural, morphological and electrochemical techniques.
• Investigate the integration of polymer electrolyte membranes with catalytic electrodes to develop and optimize membrane-electrode assemblies.
• Design polymer electrolytes for safe batteries.
• Perform electrochemical and fuel-cell performance tests under controlled operating conditions.
• Analyze experimental results and prepare characterization and performance reports.
• Draft scientific publications and patents.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Energy Engineering, Physics or a closely related field.
• Strong background in battery systems, fuel-cell technologies, hydrogen technologies or electrochemical energy conversion.
• Demonstrated experience in membrane synthesis, processing and characterization.
• Knowledge of electrode fabrication, catalyst deposition and electrode-forming techniques.
• Experience in fuel-cell and battery testing, electrochemical measurements and hydrogen-consumption analysis is a significant advantage.
• Ability to interpret experimental data and link material properties, electrode characteristics and electrochemical performance.
• Excellent written and verbal English.
