Postdoctoral Researcher in Pretreatment Processes for Seawater Desalination

About the role

The International Water Research Institute (IWRI) at University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to lead the development of pretreatment processes for seawater desalination. The position is part of a funded project supported by OCP Green Water and focuses on designing and validating pilot‑scale media filtration systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and set up a pilot‑scale media filtration process for seawater pretreatment prior to desalination.
• Configure system components and conduct performance validation experiments.
• Collect, analyse, and interpret experimental data to assess filtration efficiency.
• Prepare technical reports and scientific publications documenting research findings.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members across water‑resource, climate, and engineering domains.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in seawater desalination pretreatment, especially media filtration.
• Strong research background with experience in pilot‑scale experimental setups.
• Ability to work independently and within a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
