Postdoctoral Researcher in Soil Organic Matter Dynamics

About the role

The Center for Sustainable Soil Sciences at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to investigate the dynamics of soil organic matter (SOM) and its stable forms across different land uses. The role focuses on linking SOM to biological indicators of soil health and developing practical strategies to enhance carbon sequestration.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct field experiments to assess the impact of land use and agricultural practices on soil carbon storage.
• Develop and test organo‑mineral amendment and microbial inoculation protocols to improve SOM stability.
• Evaluate plant cover management techniques for their effect on SOM and soil health indicators.
• Analyze relationships between SOM fractions and biological indicators under varied cropping systems.
• Collaborate with CESFRA partners and contribute to scientific publications and reports.

Required profile

• PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Environmental Science or a closely related discipline.
• Experience with degraded soils, organic matter research, and field experiment monitoring.
• Strong motivation for interdisciplinary research and sustainable agriculture.
