Postdoctoral Researcher – Sustainable Polymer Materials Design

About the role

The Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMat‑RC) at UM6P seeks a motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop predictive models for polymer‑based materials. The work combines computational chemistry, data‑driven methods, and experimental validation to create sustainable polymers with optimized properties.

Key responsibilities

• Build and curate chemical databases from experimental and computational sources.
• Develop artificial‑intelligence based predictive models for polymer properties.
• Use the models to design and optimize new polymer materials.
• Perform experimental testing to validate computational predictions.
• Collaborate with chemists, data scientists, and material engineers.
• Maintain detailed records of procedures, results, and observations.
• Prepare technical reports, research papers, and conference presentations.
• Contribute to grant writing and seek external funding.
• Support supervision of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students.

Required profile

• PhD in Computational Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
• Strong background in molecular dynamics, quantum mechanical simulations, and machine‑learning techniques.
• Proficiency in programming and use of computational chemistry software.
• Excellent problem‑solving ability and capacity to work both independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to high‑quality, ethical research.
