Professor in Sensor Technology (Open Rank)

About the role

The Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Morocco is recruiting a professor in Sensor Technology. The successful candidate will plan, develop and carry out applied research on sensor technology, focusing on innovative sensing principles and sensor design with applications in precise agriculture and industry. The position is open rank.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of sensor technology within SUSMAT-RC and share knowledge and findings with researchers, clients and collaborators.
• Collaborate with SUSMAT-RC researchers on new concepts for precise agriculture, water quality and their industrial applications.
• Design and teach advanced courses on sensor technology for Master and PhD students.
• Help turn research into engineering solutions across the technology readiness levels, working with companies and consortia to move innovations toward products and processes.
• Write manuscripts, file patents and develop research proposals; help manage and administer the center.
• Co-supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and discuss challenges with the director.
• Communicate fluently in English and French, representing the center at conferences and workshops.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience after the PhD, including postdoctoral work; industrial experience is a strong asset.
• Good experience supervising M.Sc. and Ph.D. students and teaching, with the ability to develop new courses.
• Leadership, project management and collaboration skills, with first-hand experience in entrepreneurship and start-ups is a strong asset.
• Fluent in English and French, spoken and written.

Required skills

• Sensor technology, surface chemistry, materials science and molecular/nanoscale science.
• In-depth knowledge of electrochemistry.
• Chemical processes and reactions, data analysis techniques.
