Senior Director, Portfolio Management and Performance

About the role

The Senior Director, Portfolio Management & Performance reports to the CFO and provides comprehensive oversight of Africa50's investment portfolio performance, valuation and reporting. The role supplies critical portfolio insight to senior leadership, the Investment Committee and the Board.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a portfolio management and performance framework covering monitoring, valuation, analysis and reporting.
• Lead portfolio review meetings for the Investment Committee, presenting performance, risks and required actions.
• Oversee periodic valuation of portfolio investments, ensuring robust methodology and consistency with policies.
• Maintain high‑quality portfolio reporting for senior leadership and the Board, delivering both historical performance and forward‑looking assessments.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation and enhancement of portfolio management, reporting and analytical processes.

Required profile

• 17–20+ years of experience in investment management, infrastructure investment, private equity, development finance or related fields.
• Significant experience in portfolio management, performance monitoring and valuation, preferably within a private‑equity, infrastructure investor or sovereign wealth fund.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure investment and financing in emerging markets, with Africa experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
