Senior Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer

About the role

The STRIDES Morocco Senior Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer will support the implementation of epidemiology and surveillance activities under a U.S. Department of State‑funded global health security program. Based in Rabat, the role provides technical assistance to government counterparts to strengthen infectious disease detection and surveillance systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day implementation of epidemiology and surveillance activities, including emerging infectious diseases, zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
• Provide technical direction to project staff and partners, ensuring alignment with national priorities and international best practices.
• Maintain project protocols, data sets, manuals, training materials and related reports.
• Develop technical briefs, reports and other materials to disseminate research findings and best practices.
• Analyze project implementation, identify improvement areas and propose technical strategies.
• Collaborate with national counterparts to develop cross‑sectoral surveillance frameworks.
• Prepare donor reports, annual workplans and presentations for client/funder meetings.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in epidemiology, public health or a related field.
• Extensive experience in infectious disease surveillance, zoonotic disease monitoring and AMR, preferably in the MENA region.
• Proven ability to manage projects, set priorities and work with multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.
