Senior Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer

About the role

The Senior Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer will support the STRIDES Morocco Activity, a U.S. Department of State‑funded global health security program. Based in Rabat, the officer will provide technical assistance to government counterparts to strengthen infectious disease detection and surveillance systems.

Key responsibilities

• Implement day‑to‑day epidemiology and surveillance activities for emerging infectious diseases, zoonoses, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
• Provide technical direction to project staff and partners, ensuring alignment with national priorities and international best practices.
• Maintain project protocols, data sets, manuals, training materials, and related reports.
• Develop technical briefs, reports, and other documentation to support research, policy, and best‑practice dissemination.
• Analyze project implementation, identify improvement areas, and propose technical strategies.
• Collaborate with national counterparts to design and implement cross‑sectoral surveillance frameworks.
• Prepare donor reports, annual work plans, and presentations for client/funder meetings.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in infectious disease surveillance, zoonotic disease monitoring, and AMR within the MENA context.
• Proven ability to manage projects, set priorities, and work with multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
