Senior Research Associate – Education Impact Evaluation

About the role

The Morocco Innovation and Evaluation Lab (MEL) is seeking a Senior Research Associate to coordinate research efforts that promote evidence‑based policymaking in Morocco, focusing on education. The role is based at the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic campus in Rabat and works closely with senior staff from J‑PAL, Harvard CID, and international researchers.

Key responsibilities

• Propose and implement innovations across project stages in coordination with Principal Investigators.
• Maintain and grow relationships with partner organisations and oversee field research activities.
• Supervise up to two Research Associates and manage hiring of survey firms.
• Design survey questionnaires, conduct qualitative research, and refine study designs.
• Supervise data collection, ensure data quality, and assist with data cleaning and preliminary analysis.
• Prepare administrative databases, project update reports, and communicate regularly with Principal Investigators.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in economics, public policy, mathematics, statistics or related field with training in microeconomics, econometrics and advanced mathematics.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years of research experience.
• Fluency in French and English; Arabic is a strong advantage.
• Experience living in Morocco is highly valued.

Required skills

• Proficiency with STATA and/or R for data analysis.
• Strong quantitative, organisational and communication abilities.
