GNC Engineer – UAV Guidance & Control

About the role

As a GNC Engineer on the UAV team at Harmattan AI, you will design and develop advanced guidance, navigation and control solutions for autonomous defense systems. You will take concepts from simulation through embedded implementation to live flight testing, ensuring robust performance in demanding operational environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop state‑of‑the‑art navigation and sensor‑fusion algorithms for UAV platforms.
• Design and implement flight control laws, filtering and estimation strategies to achieve reliable flight performance.
• Run extensive Monte‑Carlo, SITL and HITL simulations and conduct coverage testing.
• Analyze flight test data, refine algorithms and support full‑stack integration of GNSS, INS/IMU, localisation and sensor fusion.
• Maintain and evolve a flight‑proven flight computer across multiple UAV platforms.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (BSc/MSc) in Computer Science, Electrical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience developing aerospace GNC systems.
• Strong foundation in control theory, estimation and sensor integration.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and embedded C/C++.
• Experience with simulation tools such as Gazebo.
• Version control using Git.
• Familiarity with open‑source autopilot stacks (PX4, Ardupilot, Betaflight).
• Hands‑on electronics skills including debugging, soldering and harnessing.
