Onboarding Specialist – Payment Operations (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a remote Onboarding Specialist to manage the end‑to‑end onboarding of merchant accounts for a leading Canadian payment‑processing company. The role operates during North American Eastern Time business hours and requires strong professional English.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full onboarding lifecycle for high‑volume merchant accounts across multiple acquirers.
• Process applications from submission through activation, meeting 24‑hour SLA timelines.
• Serve as primary contact for internal sales teams and acquirer underwriters.
• Coordinate documentation collection, verify accuracy, and obtain timely approvals.
• Review and audit merchant applications, identify discrepancies, and prevent rework.
• Enter data accurately across multiple acquirer portals and maintain records in Salesforce.
• Track onboarding status, provide updates, and document process changes.
• Identify and propose improvements to onboarding workflows and SOPs.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in client onboarding, account activation, or operational onboarding processes, preferably in banking, fintech, telecom, insurance or financial services.
• Post‑secondary education (Bac+2 or higher) in Business Administration, Operations or a related field.
• Proven ability to handle a high‑volume onboarding pipeline independently while managing multiple active files.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate corrections professionally.
• Adaptability and sound judgment in complex or unclear situations.
