Postdoctoral Researcher – Urban Water Management & Hydric Resilience

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to advance urban water management and hydric resilience. The role focuses on designing innovative, sustainable solutions that integrate environmental, social, and economic dimensions to strengthen city‑wide water systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and calibrate models that simulate urban water flows, assess climate‑change impacts, and evaluate green‑infrastructure interventions.
• Use GIS and hydrological modeling tools to map flood risks, drought hotspots, and water distribution patterns.
• Analyze the cost, environmental, and social implications of water‑management strategies and provide actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with urban planners, engineers, and policymakers to embed water‑resilience measures into development plans.
• Publish findings in high‑impact journals, present at international conferences, and communicate results to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in hydrology, environmental engineering, urban planning, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in urban hydrology, storm‑water management, and flood/drought risk assessment.
• Experience with climate‑adaptation simulations applied to water resources.
• Strong record of publishing in peer‑reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.
• Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hydrological modeling software such as SWMM or HEC‑RAS.
• Advanced GIS capabilities using ArcGIS or QGIS.
• Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
