Accounting Controller – Finance Leader

About the role

The Accounting Controller will act as a finance leader within AkzoNobel Morocco, linking commercial, FP&A, and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance across the Paints and Coatings business.

Key responsibilities

• Close all accounting functions on the SAP system on time and meet Group reporting deadlines in line with AKZO FEM rules.
• Prepare and submit monthly financial reports for Moroccan legal entities, resolve queries, and provide local reports for joint‑venture partners using Group HFM.
• Support annual budgeting and forecast revisions, analyse debt, cash‑flow and transfer‑pricing data, and manage treasury activities such as hedging via the Group Pay Netting system.
• Ensure internal control and compliance, track finance process cycles, and support audit activities.
• Provide FP&A data on sales, profitability and OWC, assist CAPEX projects, and handle ad‑hoc operational initiatives.
• Prepare statutory accounts, coordinate external audits, and address auditor or JV partner queries.
• Compile and file direct and indirect tax returns, ensuring timely payments and supporting the tax consultant.

Required profile

• Finance professional with strong leadership and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience in full‑cycle accounting, month‑end close, and statutory reporting.
• Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and tax compliance.
• Ability to work across cross‑functional teams and drive process improvements.
