Aerospace Technical Head

About the role

The Africa Center of Manufacturing Excellence (ACME) seeks an experienced Aerospace Technical Head to define and drive its technical vision and innovation roadmap. This senior position will shape ACME’s position as a world‑class reference in advanced manufacturing and industrial innovation, working closely with academic and industrial partners.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute ACME’s technical and innovation strategy and long‑term technology roadmaps.
• Lead multidisciplinary R&D programs, ensuring projects move from concept to industrial implementation.
• Oversee technology transfer from laboratory environments to real‑world aerospace applications.
• Identify equipment, infrastructure, and technology investment needs while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Support collaborative projects with national and international stakeholders and participate in technical reviews and workshops.
• Mentor and develop engineering, technical, and research teams, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Contribute to executive leadership, strategic planning, and budget monitoring, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Required profile

• PhD or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.
• At least 10 years of experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams and complex industrial projects in an aerospace environment.
• Proven track record of working with industrial partners and leading applied research programs.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept through execution to completion.
• Strong communication and documentation skills in English; French fluency is a plus.
