AI Endpoint Engineering Team Lead

About the role

A small team is building and operating a digital workplace as an AI-enabled platform, combining endpoint management, identity-adjacent experiences and automation to prevent issues before they become tickets. This is a first-stage management role: you stay hands-on with the endpoint stack while owning delivery, making key technical decisions and developing the engineers you lead.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small team (typically 3-5 engineers) delivering device configuration standards, automated remediation, self-service workflows and AI-assisted support systems
• Write automation scripts, review MDM policy configurations and build AI-assisted diagnostic workflows
• Own technical decisions for device lifecycle, endpoint baselines, identity-adjacent automation and self-service experiences
• Break down work, manage scope, track progress and ensure shipped automation is adopted and trusted
• Set quality standards: secure-by-default configurations, reliable automation, clear documentation and measurable ticket reduction
• Drive operational hygiene: runbook currency, alert quality, on-call health and post-incident follow-through
• Manage direct reports through 1:1s, feedback and career development, and take part in hiring

Required profile

• Ability to do the work yourself, with strong hands-on experience of the endpoint and digital workplace stack
• Experience leading small teams or acting as a technical lead with delivery accountability
• Track record of shipping endpoint or automation work predictably, and of developing other engineers
• Clear understanding of how endpoint configuration intersects with security, and of identity and endpoint controls in a zero-trust or conditional access model

Required skills

• MDM platforms at production scale, Intune and/or Jamf, including policy management, compliance enforcement and device lifecycle automation
• Windows and macOS endpoint engineering: Autopilot, DEP/ADE, OS hardening, application deployment and configuration management
• PowerShell and/or Python scripting, able to write production-quality scripts
• Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access and identity-adjacent automation
• Practical experience using AI-assisted tools to accelerate endpoint engineering, diagnostics and automation, with sound judgment about validating AI-generated scripts
