Aircraft Mechanic 2 – AH-64 Helicopter

About the role

The AH-64 Aircraft Mechanic (AM-2) is responsible for performing maintenance, inspections, and repairs on AH-64 helicopter systems in accordance with FAA and DoD standards. The role involves hands‑on work with a variety of aircraft subsystems and coordination with other trades to ensure complete aircraft assembly and readiness for deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full‑range tactical aircraft maintenance, including assembly, modification, and checkout of AH‑64 and other DoD cross‑service aircraft.
• Install, connect, and adjust systems such as fuel, hydraulic, engine, transmission, and flight control components.
• Incorporate authorized modifications, conduct operational checks, and troubleshoot malfunctions to determine corrective actions.
• Direct lower‑graded mechanics and coordinate with general mechanics and sheet‑metal trades to ensure proper assembly sequence.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance forms, records, and documentation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; 5+ years of aviation maintenance experience on the AH‑64, preferably within the last five years.
• U.S. citizenship required for facility credentials; ability to obtain and maintain NAC‑I T1 Public Trust and a valid passport for deployment.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in austere, all‑weather environments.
• Physical ability to lift 50+ lb, climb ladders, and work in noisy, dirty shop conditions.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with AH‑64 hydraulic, fuel, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency using hand tools, gauges, torque wrenches, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read, apply, and interpret technical data, maintenance manuals, and quality‑control procedures.
• Knowledge of aircraft inspection, troubleshooting, and repair documentation.
