Assistant Professor – Interfaces and Colloids

About the role

The Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT‑RC) at UM6P seeks an Assistant Professor to lead research in Interfaces and Colloids within green chemistry and chemical engineering. The candidate will develop and supervise projects on biobased monomers, polymers and advanced materials, while contributing to teaching and knowledge transfer.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all research activities related to interfaces and colloids in the center.
• Design and deliver graduate‑level courses on interfacial chemistry, emulsions and colloids.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to translate research into commercial products (TRL 3‑9).
• Supervise MSc, PhD students and post‑doctoral fellows, ensuring progress in R&D.
• Write manuscripts, file patents, and prepare research proposals aligned with the center’s strategic vision.
• Assist in administrative tasks, literature reviews and proposal coordination for the center.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Colloids & Interfaces, Soft Matter or a closely related field.
• Minimum five years of post‑doctoral or professional experience with recognized expertise in colloids and interfaces.
• Demonstrated ability to lead research programs and secure funding.
• Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the graduate level.
• Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken); French is a plus.
