Automotive & Heavy Mechanical Engineer

About the role

BIA Group sells, rents and provides after-sales services for equipment used in public works, mines, quarries and transport, operating in Europe, Africa and Asia. Within its Africa scope, across the Trucks & Buses and Engines & Power Generators product lines, the engineer deploys and executes the BIA Technical Support strategy under the Technical Support Manager. The role brings high-level technical expertise, strengthens after-sales capabilities and acts as the key interface between OEMs and BIA.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, high-quality technical support on all breakdown and service cases to after-market customers
• Ensure the after-market community meets OEM claims and technical obligations, and maintain quality feedback processes for the OEMs
• Manage and monitor the flow of technical information from OEMs to BIA, and prepare reports and statistics on technical issues
• Handle claim files with OEMs, maximise claim recovery and supervise the full claim process from submission to reimbursement
• Hold regular meetings and monthly reports on technical issues, factory campaigns and OEM obligations with OEMs and the after-market community
• Carry out remote or on-site investigations of major technical issues and support the deployment of digital solutions for investigations
• Develop new projects and services to give advanced support to customers, and share best practices across countries
• Escalate urgent or blocking issues to management when needed

Required profile

• Mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering degree or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years as a technical engineer (mechanical, mechatronic or electrical) in heavy equipment or automotive
• Experience with Foton, MAN trucks & buses and Cummins engines or power generators is an advantage
• Fluent English and French; willingness to travel regularly (about 1-2 times per year) in Africa and Europe
