Backend Engineer - Marketplace

About the role

Yakeey is a fast-growing PropTech company based in Casablanca, Morocco, that connects buyers, sellers, renters and agents through a single digital platform. As a Backend Engineer with T-shaped skills, you will own the Marketplace domain while keeping your work aligned with the overall architecture and collaborating with other domain teams. The platform uses a micro-services architecture (Java/Spring Boot, Next.js, AWS, Kubernetes) and includes data and AI components.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain micro-services in the Marketplace domain using Java/Spring Boot, following domain-driven design and architectural standards.
• Design and expose APIs that connect your domain with other platform components, following the Model Context Protocol (MCP) where applicable.
• Collaborate with front-end, data, DevOps and AI teams to understand dependencies and integration points.
• Take part in architectural discussions and share domain insights.
• Apply best practices for code quality, testing, security and observability, take part in code reviews and continuous delivery, and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• Solid experience building backend systems with deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
• Understanding of micro-services, RESTful API design and domain-driven design; event-driven patterns are a plus.
• Experience deploying applications on AWS and familiarity with Kubernetes and Terraform.
• Broad knowledge of front-end frameworks such as React and Next.js.
• Interest in AI technologies such as intelligent agents, LLMs, MCP and RAG.
• Familiarity with fintech, proptech or similar regulated domains is beneficial; French or Arabic is a plus.
