Chief Engineer / Maintenance Manager – Hotel Operations

About the role

Join the hotel’s engineering team to ensure the building, its systems and guest experiences are safe, comfortable and memorable. As the Chief Engineer / Maintenance Manager you will lead a diverse technical crew, oversee all physical plant operations and drive energy‑efficiency initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing engineering team, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation and mentorship.
• Oversee maintenance of building, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and life‑safety systems, ensuring compliance with national and local regulations.
• Manage daily maintenance operations via the property maintenance management system, prioritising tasks, resolving service requests, guest concerns and emergencies promptly.
• Support capital projects and property rehabilitations, handling scheduling, budgeting, contractor bidding and permitting while maintaining regulatory compliance.
• Develop and implement energy‑conservation programs to reduce utility costs across the property.
• Monitor departmental KPIs such as equipment uptime, audit results and team productivity, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with hotel leadership on evacuation procedures, duty manager coverage and other safety protocols.
