Claims Operations Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Claims, you will support a team of claims adjusters by developing and maintaining an effective operating environment for large and complex (re)insurance claims across multiple lines of business.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Claims in building an African‑centric claims service and ensure first‑class delivery to (re)insureds.
• Contribute to the design of future best‑practice claims processes and identify key technologies to minimise risk.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal partners (underwriting, operations, finance, actuarial) and external parties (brokers, capacity providers, outsourcing partners).
• Document and maintain claims procedures, controls and guidelines, incorporating operational enhancements.
• Oversee systems, procedures, data reporting and controls for the claims function.
• Manage projects on behalf of claims, including drafting requirements, creating procedural documentation, preparing PowerPoint presentations, constructing test plans and producing training materials.

Required profile

• Proven experience in claims operations or a similar insurance environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively across underwriting, actuarial, finance and external stakeholders.
• Strong project‑management capability, including requirement gathering and documentation.
• Excellent communication skills for representing ASR in meetings with service providers and partners.
• Detail‑oriented approach to maintaining procedures, controls and reporting.
