Director of Regulated Programmes

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Director of Regulated Programmes to provide strategic oversight of medical and construction‑related risks across its global operations. Reporting to the Director of Quality and Impact, you will champion a culture of quality, accountability and safety while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the global Regulated Programmes team, setting strategic priorities and fostering an inclusive, high‑performing culture.
• Develop and implement risk‑management strategies for medical and construction programmes, maintaining risk registers aligned with the SCARF framework.
• Oversee medical incident management, coordinate escalations with senior leadership, audit committees, donors and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with external regulations, including maintenance of SCI licences for MHRA, WDA(H) and Home Office controlled drugs.
• Drive the evidence and accountability agenda, supporting MEAL functions, capacity strengthening and global indicator roll‑out.
• Monitor emerging risks at country‑office level and ensure timely escalation in line with enterprise risk appetite.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior risk‑management or compliance roles within international NGOs or humanitarian organisations.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and complex stakeholder relationships.
• Strong understanding of medical and construction regulatory environments, especially UK‑based licences and standards.
• Excellent analytical, communication and governance skills.
