EHS Department Manager

About the role

The EHS Department Manager will lead environmental, health and safety initiatives for a large‑scale industrial manufacturing site in Morocco. The role ensures compliance with Moroccan regulations and international standards while driving sustainable and safe operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the EHS management system in line with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with Moroccan labor, environmental, health and safety legislation, coordinating inspections and permits.
• Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments and oversee mitigation measures for chemicals, machinery, electrical systems, work at height and confined spaces.
• Lead incident investigations, manage corrective actions, and maintain fire protection and emergency response programs.
• Oversee waste, hazardous material, emissions and water treatment management, and support energy efficiency and ESG initiatives.
• Manage EHS performance of contractors, suppliers and logistics providers through audits and qualification processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in an industrial environment, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Fluency in Arabic and/or French with good command of English for international communication.
• Strong cross‑cultural communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Implementation and auditing of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 management systems.
• NEBOSH or IOSH certification (preferred).
• Chemical safety management and hazardous material handling.
• Fire protection systems, emergency preparedness and incident response.
• Industrial hygiene monitoring and occupational health programs.
• Energy consumption tracking and ESG/sustainability reporting.
