Embedded Software Engineer – UAV Systems

About the role

As an Embedded Software Engineer at Harmattan AI, you will join a fast‑growing team building autonomous UAV systems for defense applications. You will help design and implement robust embedded software, set up development environments, and integrate sensor drivers and algorithms that power mission‑critical drones.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and maintain the operating system (Embedded Linux or RTOS) for UAV platforms.
• Contribute to improving the embedded software architecture for scalability and reliability.
• Develop sensor drivers and integrate online algorithms in close collaboration with algorithmic teams.
• Enhance and maintain telemetry systems for real‑time drone communication.
• Enforce coding standards and best practices across the organization.
• Assist in building in‑house development tools to accelerate software delivery.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑performance, field‑ready systems.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in embedded software development, preferably in robotics or aerospace.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and capacity to work autonomously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to interact with junior staff and senior executives.
• Full commitment to the role and the mission.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C and C++ (Python a plus).
• Hands‑on experience with Embedded Linux or RTOS and multi‑threaded/multi‑process systems.
• Development of sensor drivers and interpretation of datasheets.
• Use of debugging tools such as software debuggers, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Familiarity with build systems and version control (Git).
• Understanding of firmware architecture and low‑level programming.
