Embedded Software Engineer - UAV Systems

About the role

Harmattan AI builds autonomous and scalable defense systems and is expanding its teams after a $200M Series B. As an Embedded Software Engineer you will join a growing team developing UAV systems, contributing to software architecture, development environments and the integration of drivers and algorithms for sensors and systems, working closely with the Algorithmic teams.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and maintain the operating system (e.g. Embedded Linux or RTOS) for UAV systems.
• Improve the embedded software architecture, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Develop sensor drivers and integrate online algorithms with the Algorithmic teams.
• Improve and maintain telemetry systems for the drone.
• Maintain strong coding standards across the company.
• Collaborate on in-house tools to speed up software development.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance systems for field deployment.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field.
• Extensive embedded software experience, focused on robotics, aerospace or related fields.
• Proven work with Embedded Linux or RTOS and multi-threaded/multi-process systems.
• Experience developing and integrating sensor drivers and interpreting data sheets.
• Hands-on debugging with tools such as software debuggers, oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
• Familiarity with build systems and version control tools such as Git.
• Strong understanding of firmware architecture and low-level programming.
• Ability to work autonomously and communicate clearly with people from juniors to senior executives.

Required skills

• C/C++ (strong proficiency); Python is a plus.
