Emission Calibration Engineer (Rabat)

About the role

AVL is seeking an Emission Calibration Engineer to join its Rabat team. You will work on calibrating engine control systems to meet stringent emissions standards while collaborating with powertrain, software and validation experts.

Key responsibilities

• Calibrate engine control units (fuel injection, air management, EGR, after‑treatment) to minimise exhaust emissions.
• Conduct engine and vehicle tests on dyno, road and laboratory rigs to validate emissions performance.
• Analyse test data, adjust calibration parameters and ensure compliance with Euro, EPA or other regional regulations.
• Support certification processes and maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Work closely with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot emissions‑related issues and optimise performance trade‑offs.

Required profile

• Degree in mechanical, automotive or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines, combustion processes and emission control systems.
• Familiarity with automotive diagnostics (OBD, trouble codes) and ECU architecture.
• Understanding of emissions regulations and testing procedures.
• Analytical mindset with solid problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with calibration tools such as INCA, CANape, MDA, CRETA and Optisim.
• Experience in data analysis and interpretation of test results.
• Hands‑on experience with engine testing equipment and dyno facilities.
• Knowledge of emissions standards (Euro, EPA) and certification processes.
