Gender & Social Inclusion Advisor

About the role

The Gender & Social Inclusion Advisor will support the implementation of the EU‑funded Higher Education System Strengthening Project II in Somalia. This junior‑level position focuses on integrating gender equality and social inclusion considerations into higher education interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement gender and social‑inclusion strategies for the project.
• Conduct gender analyses and develop policies, action plans, and monitoring frameworks.
• Deliver training sessions and awareness campaigns on gender equality and inclusion for project staff and partners.
• Ensure compliance with international standards and donor requirements related to gender and inclusion.
• Provide technical advice to strengthen the capacity of higher education institutions to address barriers faced by women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in gender studies, sociology, social work, development or a related field.
• Training in gender mainstreaming and social inclusion.
• At least 5 years of experience designing and implementing gender and social‑inclusion strategies in development programmes.
• Proven experience conducting gender analyses and developing related policies and action plans.
• Familiarity with international standards and donor requirements on gender and inclusion.
