HSEC/ESG Manager – Morocco

About the role

ESS is looking for an experienced HSEC/ESG Manager to lead Health, Safety, Environment and Community functions across its operations in Morocco. The role ensures compliance with Moroccan regulations and aligns with International Finance Corporation (IFC) standards where applicable.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the site Health & Safety Management System and ensure compliance with national occupational health and safety laws.
• Lead risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), incident investigations and monitor safety KPIs such as LTIFR and TRIR.
• Oversee environmental permits, ESIA commitments, and manage monitoring programs for water quality, air emissions, waste, noise and biodiversity.
• Coordinate community engagement, grievance mechanisms and development initiatives while maintaining strong relationships with local authorities.
• Prepare HSEC reports for senior management, support external audits, and ensure alignment with IFC requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Mining Engineering or a related field.
• 5‑10 years of HSEC experience in industrial, mining or heavy‑industry projects.
• Strong knowledge of Moroccan regulatory framework and familiarity with IFC standards.
• Fluent French; English is an asset.
• Proven leadership and team‑management abilities.
